Section 2: Jurying Process
Jurying Process Overview
LRAA Board Members will be accepting submissions for jurying on the first Wednesday of every month. Artists should read the Exhibiting Artwork Agreement and fill out the Gallery Member Jurying Application to accompany their submission. Applicants will be notified as soon as a decision is made. The artist’s complete application MUST accompany artwork, or a decision will be postponed to the following month’s jurying session.

Application Requirements
● Applicant must be a current annual Participating Member of the Lakes Region Art Association ($50.00 annual fee). If currently a $35 member, the applicant may pay the $15 for the remainder of the year.
● Applicant must submit 4 to 6 pieces of display-ready artwork for jurying.
● Applicant must submit a signed, completed Gallery Member Jurying Application (Section 3)
● Applicant may submit additional information such as an artist bio, statement and website link for consideration at the same time.
Submission Requirements
● All works submitted must be original and produced by the applicant. Reproductions of other artists' work are not acceptable. It is the artist’s responsibility to abide by current state and federal copyright law. Artificial Intelligence (AI) assisted work is also unacceptable. A disclaimer should be attached to the back of each piece.
● Applicants may submit high-quality traditional process or digital prints.
● Artwork must be presented in a professional manner and be framed, wired, and ready for hanging. Saw-tooth hangers are unacceptable (with the exception of photos printed on metal.) Paintings on gallery-wrapped (1.5” deep) canvases (with staples hidden) and photographs on metal & acrylic may be presented unframed.
The artist’s name, title of work, medium and price of work must be attached to the back of each piece.

Obligations of Gallery Artists
● All Gallery artist members are required to be current Participating members of the LRAA. (Annual dues $50)
● All Gallery artist members are required to pay for exhibition space at $20.00 per metal strip per month, at a minimum of two strips. New Gallery artists are required to pay for three months’ exhibition fees upon joining the gallery.
● All Gallery artist members are responsible to work in the Gallery for a minimum of 12- 15 hours per month. These hours are not optional. Upon acceptance you will need to schedule 3 shifts for training prior to hanging your art. Any exceptions are at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
● All Gallery artist members must contribute to the operation of the Gallery in some way by taking responsibility for some aspect of the gallery. This includes shift scheduling, marketing, event planning, show management, financial management, gallery cleaning, and other activities as needed. We would love to know what skills you have that could help the gallery and association grow.
Notification of Decision
Artists will be notified by phone or email of the jury’s decision as soon as possible after the jury date. If accepted, the email will provide additional information for setting up a display within the Gallery. Three training shifts are required before hanging as well in order to become familiar with policies and procedures. Artists must demonstrate that they are able to use both Clover and Homebase before hanging their art.
